Tuesday, 29 April 2014 13:56 GMT

The Brit ends first race in 17th place before crashing out of the second encounter.

The third round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship was contested at the Assen TT CItcuit. Thanks to a solid performance in both timed practices and in the Tissot-Superpole, Come Sunday, the Englishman had a good early part of the first race, before eventually dropping down some positions and crossing the line 17th as the chequered flag was waved. The second encounter saw Camier battling out for 10th place before a crashed ruled him out of contention for the best EVO placing.

The next round will take place at Imola's Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari over on May 9-11.

Leon Camier : “A disappointing result. In race one it seemed like we had a tyre problem – even though I was braking a lot earlier than normal I still had trouble getting through the corners. I had a total lack of grip and did all I could just to finish the race. In race two we were struggling with grip again – though I think everyone was in a similar situation – and so I was trying everything I could just to stay where I was. I knew Canepa was right behind me, and I thought I was OK through that corner, which hadn’t been a problem up until then, but then I went down. All in all it was a truly unlucky Sunday for us.”
